A St Helens salon has beaten scores of other businesses to scoop a national award.

As chosen by the public, finalists from across England attended the glamorous ceremony, where winners were announced for the best in the hair and beauty industry.

The glamorous evening was hosted by beauty queen, Rachelle Perez and provided a platform to thank those in the beauty industry.

Michael Ford, who owns Hair by Michael Ford, said: “Clients nominated us and voted through social media.

“A week before the ceremony we put together a glossy portfolio about what we had done and judges picked us out of four candidates.

“I am so proud and overwhelmed as we were up against some big names from Liverpool. I didn’t think we would get a look in. We are so privileged.

“I am so proud of my girls. It is a real team effort and I want to say thanks for all their hard work and loyal support. We are a very close team and more like a family.”

Speaking shortly after the event Irfan Younis of event organisers Creative Oceanic said: “Over the past few years we have seen the English Hair & Beauty Awards go from strength to strength. This year we have been blown away by the response from the English public and our finalists, resulting is a full house at the event with attendees from across England. Well done to all the winners and finalists and we thank everyone who attended in making this another successful Creative Oceanic event.”

The Awards also allows the opportunity to fund-raise for a worthwhile cause and this year helped raise around £1,100 for the official charity partner, Make A Wish Foundation UK who grant magical wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening conditions.
