Working Worms gardening group award

A TIRELESS St Helens gardening group is celebrating after winning a top award.

Volunteers from the Working Worms Community Group in Four Acre were delighted to pick up an Environmental Impact Award at the recent Spirit of Merseyside Awards 2011.

The gong saluted their ongoing efforts to improve and develop a local community garden.

Supported by the likes of Helena Homes, St Helens Council, the police, fire service and re:new Four Acre, Working Worms has transformed the communal Acre Oasis Gardens into a haven of wildflowers and aromatic herbs.

The garden also boasts a recycling and compost patch and a mini allotment for growing vegetables.
