Firefighters were called out to perform a rescue after a 12-year-old girl got stuck up a tree.

Crews from Eccleston were called to Thatto Heath Park, near St John Street, shortly before 7pm on Sunday (September 22).

A girl had climbed a large tree but then could not find a way down. Firefighters used a nine-metre ladder and rope access gear to bring her back down to earth.

The girl was safely back on the ground shortly after 7.15pm. She was unharmed.

It is unclear whether the girl, or a friend, dialled 999.
