Families are guaranteed a spectacular show at this year’s fireworks display in St Helens.
With thousands of visitors expected at this year’s Spark in the Park display at Sherdley Park, St Helens Council is urging people to get there early if they want to grab a parking spot.
Organisers are promising one of the biggest and best displays yet - which takes place on Thursday November 5.
The event gets underway at 7pm with a children’s fireworks display, while the main event - the grand fireworks display - starts at 8pm. There’ll be plenty happening in the meantime, with fun rides for the kids (6pm to 9pm) and stalls selling hot food and drinks to keep everyone warm.
Visitors are being urged to arrive at the event in plenty of time and contact Merseytravel Traveline on 0151 236 7676 or visit www.merseytravel.gov.uk for up-to-date public transport enquiries as some bus services will be affected.
Free secure, stewarded and fully lit car parking will be available at nearby Sherdley Primary School, Robins Lane Primary School and Chester Lane Centre.
Secure, chargeable, stewarded and fully lit car parking is available at Mere Grange (£5 per car), as well as at Sherdley Park (entrance via Elton Head Road), Lea Green Station, Sutton Academy and The Islamic Centre (£10 per car).
There is no dedicated disabled parking but event organisers suggest Sutton Academy and Lea Green Station as possible alternatives.
Those attending are also being asked to leave their sparklers at home this year. Spent sparklers - that may be missed during the clear up operation - can cause injuries to those taking part in sports activities as well as dogs being walked in the park.
