Fleet Lane re-opened after suspected arson attack

Police have re-opened Fleet Lane after a suspected arson attack brought chaos to parts of St Helens this morning.

Fire crews were called to a house on Fleet Lane, Parr, at around 4.20am.

Four men and four women were rescued from the property suffering from smoke inhalation.

All eight are currently being treated in hospital.

The house suffered severe damage and the scene remains under investigation.

A 41-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life after being checked over at hospital.

Road closures were in place at the junction of Lansbury Avenue with Fleet Lane and Ashtons Green Drive with Fleet Lane, although access is allowed along Ashtons Green Drive and Lansbury Avenue.
