A VISIT by Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service staff to Evelyn Community Primary School in Prescot last week led to more than one pupil stating the fire service was their ideal career choice.
Stephanie Bond, the service’s Livesafe co-ordinator and firefighter Claire Crilly both visited the Evelyn Avenue school, along with Lyndsey Kevan, a functional skills co-ordinator for The Prince’s Trust.
Each visitor was put in ‘the hot seat’ and quizzed by pupils from years three to six while the trio spoke about the work they do, fire safety and emphasising the importance of literacy and numeracy.
Ms Bond said: “The children had some good questions. Quite a few wanted to be firefighters.”
