Fatal rush-hour crash

A MOTORCYCLIST has died following a collision with a car on a busy St Helens road.

Emergency crews were called to the crash scene on Warrington Road, Rainhill, shortly after 5pm on Monday (March 7) following a collision between a Kawasaki motorbike and a Nissan car.

The 48-year-old biker was taken to nearby Whiston Hospital suffering from severe injuries, but was pronounced dead a short time later.

The driver of the Nissan, a 66-year-old woman, was also taken to hospital suffering from shock and an arm injury.

Police confirmed that she stopped at the scene and is now helping officers with their inquiries.

Officers cordoned off Warrington Road for several hours following the crash.
