A YOUNG St Helens man who collapsed in the street suffering from convulsions has died.
Police confirmed that a 21-year-old man collapsed along Prescot Road in Grange Park - near to West Park Rugby Club - last Wednesday afternoon (February 1).
A passing motorist stopped to help the unconscious man at about 5.05pm and, with the guidance of a 999 call handler, commenced CPR.
The motorist stayed with the man until an ambulance arrived - just three minutes later - and told paramedics on their arrival that the casualty’s “twitching” had just stopped.
An ambulance service spokeswoman confirmed that CPR was then continued by paramedics all the way to Whiston Hospital.
The man, who has not been named, died shortly after his arrival at Whiston.
A file was subsequently prepared for the coroner, however it was confirmed on Friday (February 3) that no inquest will be held as it was determined that the man had died of natural causes.
