A ST Helens cueist has been crowned national pool champion.
David Roblin, of Newton-le-Willows, claimed the English National Blackball Pool title in a tournament in Leicester.
On his way to the final he beat the current world champion in a nail-biting deciding frame and the current European champion - as well as a string of top international and county players.
Both the semi-final and final were televised live on Cuesport TV.
David, who plays in the Earlestown Pool League for the Victoria pub, said: “Although I have numerous titles under my belt, this was one of my proudest moments because I had to qualify for the event via five North West tour events.
“I had to gain ranking points to qualify - winning two of the North West tour events - so it was great just to get there, never mind to win!”
