Two arrested after suspected drug lab found in Rainford
Police have arrested two men and seized a suspected drugs laboratory following a warrant in Rainford yesterday afternoon (Tuesday, March 30).
At around 3pm, officers attended a location on Ormskirk Road and located a suspected laboratory in a garden shed, comprising blocks of suspected cocaine, a suspected drugs press and other equipment and chemicals.
The scene was made safe by specialist officers and further searches will take place this morning..
A 42-year-old man from Rainford and a 28-year-old man from Waltham Abbey, Essex were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cocaine and taken to a police station for questioning by detectives.
Detective Inspector Jackie Guinness said: “It is pleasing to see this potentially hazardous location made safe and the suspected drugs removed from circulation, and a full investigation is now under way.
"What was found yesterday has the potential to not only spread untold misery across our communities, but cause serious health risks to those living nearby.
“Key to our successes in removing drugs and other harmful items from the streets is information from those communities who are affected, so keep coming forward and we will take positive action.”
