Man in hospital with stab wounds after 'appalling attack' in St Helens
Two people have been arrested by police investigating a stabbing in St Helens.
Emergency services were called at 5pm today to a report that a man had been assaulted at a property on Lord Street.
They found a 45-year-old man with stab wounds to his leg.
He was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries, which were not believed to be life-threatening.
A 42-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman, both from St Helens, have been arrested on suspicion on section 18 wounding. They were taken into custody and will be questioned by police.
Officers from Merseyside Police remain at the property while forensic inquiries are carried out.
Det Insp Leanne Hobin said: “This was an appalling attack leaving a man hospitalised.
“I would like to reassure the community that we have two people in custody and our investigation is ongoing.”
