Man charged over collision which almost killed pensioner

A St Helens man has been charged with dangerous driving following a collision which left a pensioner fighting for his life.

Paul Bordache, 39, of Gladstone Street, St Helens, was arrested after the incident near Saints' Totally Wicked Stadium in December.

He has now been charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving, using a motor vehicle without third party insurance and driving a motor vehicle otherwise than in accordance with licence.

The collision occurred at around 9.40am on Friday, December 22.

A man in his 60s was taken to hospital in a critical condition. Police say he is now recovering from his injuries.

Mr Bordache will next appear at Liverpool, Knowsley and St Helens Magistrates Court, Derby Square on Thursday, 12 July.
