A parish councillor says the continued dangers at the junction of Bleak Hill Road and Rainford Road will get worse once the current roadworks are completed.

Minutes of a recent Windle Parish Council meeting detail how Coun J Cunliffe raised the issue.

“He felt that when the roadworks were completed and vehicles would no longer be able to leave Tesco and Starbucks to cross the East Lancas Road towards Rainford, then more vehicles would be using the exit at Rainford Road and attempting to turn right towards Rainford thus making the junction even more dangerous.

“He stated that there were no speed restrictions on traffic approaching Windle Island junction which added to the dangers of the junction.

“It was agreed that Coun Cunliffe write to St Helens Council and Tesco to seek their views on any possible action that could be taken.”
