A number of entrepreneurs are believed to be poised to make a bid for the old Tyrers site, the Reporter understands.

A source close to negotiations said talks were ongoing but it unlikely the site would remain empty for long.

There has been speculation budget fashion retailer Primark could make a pitch for a move into St Helens town centre, with Tyrers site being an obvious target.
