A WHISTON couple have been doubly honoured with a joint award for their work in the community.
Ray and Sheila Bennett were both nominated in the Knowsley Housing Trust (KHT) Community Achievement Awards for their work with Four Seasons Residents Association and young people in the area.
But because they have achieved so much together, it was decided to give them both the award.
Ray, 81, said: “When we were both nominated, I was worried that if I won there would be murder!
“When both our names were called out we were surprised but over the moon. You don’t do these things for recognition, but it is nice when it happens.”
The unstoppable pair, who live on Oak Road in Whiston, are founder members of the Four Seasons Residents Association, which was set up in 2008.
Based at South Avenue Community Centre, it now has 200 members. They organise day trips and activities, all with the aim of bringing people together.
