LONG-serving ex-councillor Carole Kavanagh will be missed by many people in St Helens.

Representing the Moss Bank ward for the majority of her 19 years in local politics, she was particularly interested in environmental issues - once serving as a cabinet member for Environmental Protection.

The married mother-of-three and grandfather-of-four was laid to rest on Monday and will be much-missed by scores of people across the borough.

Former deputy council leader Suzanne Knight summed Mrs Kavanagh up to perfection when told how she had always “worked tirelessly and put her constituents before party politics”.
