Police have charged a Rainhill office worker with attempting to possess a chemical weapon following a series of dramatic counter terrorism raids.

Mohammed Ammer Ali, 31, of Prescot Road, Liverpool, is due to appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court today (Tuesday).

He was held after police raided five Merseyside addresses on February 11 - including an office in View Road, Rainhill.

Officers also raided four addresses in the Kensington area of Liverpool.

A police spokeswoman confirmed that the Rainhill office was not connected to the investigation and said that officers had not uncovered a plan or threat of an imminent attack either at home or abroad.
