Detectives have released CCTV images of a man they would like to speak to after a man was assaulted in a St Helens taxi office.
At around 5.15pm on Tuesday, 16 February, the 45-year-old was seated in A to B Taxis’ premises on New Cross Street, waiting for a taxi he had booked.
The offender, who walked into the premises with another man, then asked for food from his shopping bag which the victim refused to hand over.
The offender then punched the victim in the face repeatedly, causing injuries to his mouth and eye.
Officers have now released CCTV images of one man they believe could help them with their enquiries.
Inspector Andy Johnston said: “This was a particularly nasty and unprovoked assault on a man who had been minding his own business waiting for a taxi.
“At the time of the incident, there would have been a number of people outside and around A to B Taxis who may have seen what happened or saw the men leaving the area. We are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen anything which in hindsight seems suspicious.
“We would also ask the man in the CCTV stills or anyone who knows of their identity to get in touch.”
Anyone who has any information is asked to call Merseyside Police on 0151 777 6813 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
