A SUSPECT was caught on camera (see picture, left) after a man tried to force entry into a St Helens home.

Police say a man tried to gain entry through the secure door of a property in Oak Avenue, Haydock, in the early hours of Saturday June 26.

Despite the incident having taken place more than two months ago, detectives are hopeful that this CCTV image will jog somebody’s memory.

Luckily, the owner of the property, who had been asleep, was awoken at about 4.30am by the offender’s actions and the man ran off.

Detectives are now appealing for you to help them identify the offender.

The suspect was wearing a distinctive pale-coloured long-sleeved top which appeared to have dark coloured material running across the top from the back of one shoulder to the other.

He also appears to have a hood, which may have been attached to the top.

Anyone with information is asked to contact St Helens CID on 0151 777 6061 or Crimestoppers, in confidence, on 0800 555 111.
