A NEW car park will open in St Helens town centre later this month.
Situated in Parr Street, it will have 60 spaces and council chiefs say it will be one of the cheapest car parks in the borough.
It will also be open on match nights at Langtree Park to provide much-needed extra parking facilities for Saints fans.
The car park will open betweem 6am and 11pm on Monday to Saturday.
Parking for up to four hours will be £1 while motorists staying longer than four hours will pay £2.
Match day parking will cost £1. Charges for off street parking permits is £200 for six months and £300 for a year.
Deputy council leader Barrie Grunewald said: “This will be a very welcome addition to our existing network of car parks which remain among the cheapest in the north west.
“We have not increased charges since November 2006. We are also committed to the Free After Three scheme at three of our main car parks - Chalon Way, Birchley Street and St. Mary’s to boost the number of shoppers into our town centre.”
