Police have confirmed that a body found in St Helens over the weekend is that of missing 47-year-old Yan Downie.
Mr Downie’s body was founded in a wooded area on Banastre Drive, Newton, at around 2pm on Saturday by a passing dog walker.
Emergency services were called but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Mr Downie was reported missing after leaving his work in Lingholme Road, St Helens, on Tuesday, May 5 at around 5pm.
His family reported him missing when he failed to return home and concerned police said his disappearance was “totally out of character”.
Police confirmed today there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding Mr Downie’s death and a file is being prepared for the coroner.
