A COMBINED one-stop shop, museum and library has been been officially opened in the heart of Prescot.
A plaque to mark the opening of the new £1.2m Prescot Centre was unveiled by the leader of Knowsley Council, Ron Round.
Based in the completely refurbished one-stop shop building in the shopping centre, the Prescot Centre is already proving a hit with customers too.
An average of 4,000 extra people are now visiting the shopping centre every week.
Meanwhile, library membership applications have doubled and computer usage has risen by more than a quarter.
Coun Round said: “I am absolutely delighted to officially open the fantastic new Prescot Centre and I am thrilled by how popular it is already proving to be.
“We are providing superb facilities for our customers.”
Ron and Sue Swale, owners of home interior shop Prescot Heart of the Home, added: “Over the last six weeks, we have seen an increase in visitors to the shopping centre, which is not only great news for us, but for other businesses in the area too.”
