An aspiring model from St Helens hopes her family’s drive will help propel her to success on the catwalk.

Anna Middlehurst, 17, comes from a long line of successful motor racing drivers, with her brother, dad, granddad and great-grandfather all making their mark in the sport.

The Crank teenager has won a place in the semi-finals of Miss England and needs voters to back her bid to reach the final.

It’s been a meteoric rise for Anna, who only started modelling this summer.

“I have done a few pageants and enjoyed them,” she said.

“I really only started thinking about doing modelling in the summer and sent off to a few different modelling agencies and they all got back in touch and said they were interested in taking me on.

“I really like doing the modelling. When the pageants comes around I really enjoy the whole day itself. It’s all about smiling and being pretty, which is fun.”

Anna, whose dad Andrew runs the Middlehurst motor group, entered the Miss England on a whim.

She added: “If I get through to the semi-final then there is a section where you have to demonstrate a talent. I’ve no idea what i am going to do; I can’t sing or dance.

“At one of the earlier contests I was asked what I’d do if I had a million pounds. It seems like an easy question but when you’re on the spot it can be tough.”

You can vote for Anna by texting MISS ENGH18 to 63333 or vote from a landline, which is 0901 3078571 and press 18 when prompted.

Text votes costs 50p whilst Landline votes cost 52p plus standard network charge.

The voting line stays opens until midnight on Sunday, November 30.
