FRIENDS and family of tragic schoolgirl Shivohn Watson raised £1,500 for charity via a sponsored walk in her honour.

Led by the 13-year-old’s mum, Beverley, a group of 20-plus fundraisers took on a five-hour trek from the Legh Arms pub in Newton-le-Willows to the Primrose Vaults pub in Blackbrook.

Many of the group wore special t-shirts featuring a photo of Shivohn on the front.

The tragic Haydock High pupil died less than two hours after suffering a fit at her Parr home in March.

She was treated by paramedics at the scene and taken to Whiston Hospital but, sadly, there was nothing medics could do to save her.

A post mortem subsequently revealed that Shivohn had an undetected heart defect which could have struck at any moment.

Since the tragedy, Shivohn’s family have set about raising thousands of pounds to help buy defibrillators from the Hand On Heart charity for local schools - including Haydock High.

Earlier this summer they raised £1,100 via a fundraising race night. Another fundraising event is planned for October.
