thursday, november 24: Sankey Canal Restoration Society (SCARS) holds its next meeting at St Patrick’s Parish Centre, Marian Road, Earlestown, from 7.30pm. Railway enthusiasts will enjoy the event as the speaker is Joe Cowley of the HP Association will be giving an illustrated talk on The St Helens Railway.

saturday, november 26: Blackbrook Scouts, on Ashurst Drive, will hold a winter fayre between noon and 2pm with lots of stalls, great raffle, tombola, refreshments available.

saturday, november 26: The Rainhill Model Railway Show takes place at Rainhill Village Hall, Weaver Avenue, Rainhill, between 10am and 5pm. Adult admission costs £2; £2.50 children, including a visit to Santa.

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 27: The 8th St Helens Scout Group officially opens its new headquarters in St Nicholas Church, New Street, following by a talk in the HQ.

tuesday, november 29: The St Helens group of the National Rheumatoid Society (NRAS) holds its first meeting between 6.30pm and 8pm in room eight of St Helens Town Hall. There will be a talk on ‘Living with RA and Staying Positive’.

tuesday, november 29: The Wigan, St Helens and District Branch of The The Grenadier Guards Association will meet in the old Royal British Legion Club, Upper Dicconson Street, Wigan at 8pm. All welcome. For further details contact Barry Taylor on 01744 601663.

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 2: A coffee morning at St John’s Church, Crossley Road, Ravenhead, between 10am and noon. Admission costs £1.

saturday, december 3: Blackbrook Scouts hold a Christmas bingo, between 6pm and 8pm, including a raffle and bingo prizes, tombola, refreshments available.

sunday, december 4: St Helens Cricket Club, on Windleshaw Road, will hold its Christmas Fayre between 1pm and 4pm. There will be a £1 entry fee for adults. Children under 16 can get in for free.

thursday, december 8: Rainford Flower Club presents {MAGIC OF CHRISTMAS} a demonstration by Tom Hodge about the magic of Christmas at the Parish Church Hall, Church Road, Rainford, from 7.30pm. The event includes mince pie and tea, raffles for flowers and a special Christmas raffle. Tickets cost £5 from Norma on 01744 883314.

saturday, december 10: Haydock Male Voice Choir share the concert platform with the choir of Bleak Hill CP School at St Helens Parish Church, starting at 7.30 pm. Tickets are now on sale and can be obtained from any choir member or by callingAlan Gaskell on 01744 734176. Tickets are £5. Accompanied children will get free entry.
