St Helens foursome The Swampstompers will be providing an electrifying mix of hard driving rock and blues at The Junction, News Lane, Rainford. Admission is free and the event will run from 9.30pm till late.

St Helens Ramblng Club’s next walk leaves Central Street at 8.15am to the delightful area around Chipping in the Trough of Bowland. This ancient village is tucked into its own bowl in the surrounding moorlands. There will be the usual range of walks. For more details contact 0751 342 4101.

The next meeting of the St Helens Group of the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society is held between 6.30pm and 8pm in room eight of St Helens Town Hall.

The next meeting of the year for the Newton-le-Willows Gardeners Association, will be held at 7.30pm. The venue will be the Newton Sports (and Cricket) Club on Crow Lane East as usual. Admission is free.
