The search is on for St Helens Champion Elf for 2015.
The town’s Church Square Shopping Centre is launching a special festive event to find the best little elf.
Saturday November 14 will see the town’s Elf Yourself contest at Church Square, with youngsters transformed by a team of face painters into Santa’s newest recruits, before the town’s Christmas lights are switched on.
From 11am to 3pm youngsters can come along in their own elf outfit, or be transformed at an elf station in the centre’s St Mary’s Arcade – and it’s all free.
A professional photographer will take the children’s photos, and these will be uploaded to Church Square Shopping Centre’s Facebook page on November 16, where shoppers can vote for their favourite elf until November 20.
Whoever gets the most likes will win a Christmas stocking of goodies from stores at the centre – plus the title of St Helens Champion Elf 2015.
Church Square Shopping Centre manager Steven Brogan said: “This is going to be a great start to Christmas for St Helens – the Elf Yourself station will really help youngsters get in the mood for the Christmas lights switch on.
“In addition, there will be free parking at Church Square every Saturday from now until Christmas and then for the Boxing Day sales, until December 28 - we think that will give people even more reason to shop in St Helens.
“We are expecting it to be one of our busiest festive trading times ever, thanks to the new H&M store - which is due to open shortly – the expanded Pandora and Scotts stores, plus the new Fat Face, which is the company’s biggest in the UK.”
Church Square Shopping Centre is open daily and home to a range of big name stores – such as Fat Face, Pandora, River Island, BHS, Boots and Superdrug – along with independent retailers plus the busy St Mary’s Market.
