ACTRESS Tina Malone is probably best known for her part in the long-running TV comedy Shameless... not to mention her appearance in Celebrity Big Brother!

But this summer she is set to star in, and direct, the hilarious play Meet The Deans at the St Helens Theatre Royal.

Written by Kerry Williams, Meet The Deans introduces audiences to a Liverpudlian family who are full of love, laughter and family banter.

Tina Malone plays Mrs Dean, queen of the household and a frazzled mother hen to her adult children, all of whom still live at home.

Amongst the humour however, we learn that daughter, Jess - played by Sarah Donovan - was born with a congenital heart defect – her only long-term chance of survival being a heart transplant.

Audiences will also meet Jess’ errant brother, Jimmy, who is always on hand to provide shocking stories from the back of his cab and her brother Joseph, who is a bundle of camp fun.

There’s also her self-obsessed sister Hannah, who has so much fake tan on her that she glows, and brother Chris, who is allergic to desk jobs but still makes a tidy income selling homegrown produce from his bedroom.

Tina said: “This play is very special to me as it was written by my close friend. Meet The Deans has also given me the opportunity to work alongside my daughter, Dannielle, who is an actor on Hollyoaks, and my husband Paul Chase-Malone who will perform on stage for only the third time.

“It is always invigorating to perform on stage and the beauty of this play is that it’s funny, warm, and humorous and is for all ages. It’s a beautiful play to perform and to return to St Helens Theatre Royal, where I have performed several times, is fantastic as it’s a wonderful theatre.”
