The elite brains from nine primary schools in the borough assembled at Hope Academy for the fourth annual Quiz Kids Challenge.
Each school provided a team of five children to compete for the honour of being quiz champions, a title which St Peter’s CE Primary School were aiming to win for the third year running.
In a keenly-fought contest St Mary’s Catholic Junior School emerged as the winners of the Champions’ Shield, with a three way tie for second having to be decided by a tie breaker question. St Lewis’ Catholic Primary School battled through to second place, with St Catherine of Siena Catholic Primary School edging out St Peter’s for third.
Also taking part were: Newton-le-Willows Primary School, Lyme Community Primary School, Wargrave CE Primary School, The District CE Primary School and St Paul of the Cross Catholic Primary School.
After refreshments, Hope Academy principal Patrick Ferguson made the presentations, and the winners’ trophy was accepted on behalf of St Mary’s by Rachel Woods, who praised the welcome the children received at Hope Academy and the way in which the event was organised.
The Hope Academy Student Ambassadors were instrumental in the success of the evening, and Becky Tickle, a Year 13 photography student, provided a pictorial record of the proceedings.
Congratulations to the children of all the schools who took part in the contest, and thanks to their teachers for making their participation possible.
