ONE of the most popular shows in the St Helens Theatre Royal’s recent history is returning for a record-breaking second run.

Rita, Sue & Bob Too! will be at the Corporation Street theatre will hit the stage from Wednesday, October 17 to Sunday, October 28.

The award-winning play will again by directed Sylvie Gatrill, with Shameless star Tina Malone as Bob’s wife Michelle, with her real-life daughter Dannielle Malone (Hollyoaks) as Rita and husband Paul Malone playing the role of Sam.

The cast also includes Nikki Sanderson (Coronation Street) as Sue, Paul Opacic (Emmerdale and Hollyoaks) as Bob.

The play centres on two working class schoolgirls, Rita and Sue, living on a rundown council estate in Bradford.

They begin babysitting an affluent couple and begin having an affair with the husbad, Bob.

Written by playwright Andrea Dunbar when she was aged just 20, the play was later turned into a film, directed by Alan Clarke.

The film created considerable controversy on the Buttershaw estate, where Dunbar lived, because of its negative portrayal of the area.

With a side-splittingly funny script, a great all-star cast and bursting with all the best 80’s music, this revamped Rita Sue and Bob Too! is certainly set to repeat success of its earlier run in St Helens.
