Local centre Brian McGinn (front, centre) was just 20 when he lined up in the Saints team that defeated Wigan 12-6 in the Wembley Final of 1961.

He also earned two Lancashire Cup medals in a career from 1958-63, which saw him score 34 tries and 16 goals in 134 games. Strongly built and six feet tall, ex-Holy Cross pupil McGinn made his way to Saints via amateur and reserve rugby. He now lives at Haydock.
