A MOTHER-of-two from Rainhill was crowned the winner of Strictly Come Dancing-style fundraiser.
Martina McLachlan, a finance worker, wowed a 400-strong audience at Southport’s Floral Hall with her nightclub two-step – alongside her professional partner Shaun Parr.
She was one of eight amateur dancers from United Utilities and partner companies who bravely took to the dancefloor – after just 12 weeks of training – for the annual Claire House Does Strictly fund-raiser.
All proceeds from the event, which has now been running for three years, were donated to the Claire House children’s hospice on the Wirral.
An incredible £38,000 was raised for the charity via the show.
Lynne Friery, who helped to organise the event, said: “We really wanted to raise £29,000 from this event to take us past the £100,000 mark over the three years. To raise £38,000 was just amazing as £25,000 pays for a nurse for a year.
“This money will make a huge difference to the children and families at Claire House.”
