Folk music legends Fairport Convention will welcome their longest-serving member back to the fold when they arrive in St Helens with a spring tour stop at The Citadel.
The band, made up of vocalist and guitarist Simon Nicol, mandolin player, violinist and vocalist Chris Leslie, bassist Dave Pegg and percussionist Gerry Conway, will perform tracks spanning their career of more than 40 years.
The show will also mark a welcome back to Fairport for Dave, who severed a tendon in his hand in a kitchen accident earlier this year and had to hand four-string duties over to his son Matt.
Fans at the Waterloo Street venue will enjoy an intimate semi-acoustic show mixing new tracks with old favourites from the folk-rock band’s back catalogue of classic albums.
Singer and guitarist Simon said: “We’ve played in St Helens before but we always enjoy coming back here.”
Fairport Convention play at The Citadel on Saturday May 10 at 8pm.
