Wigan Youth Choir performs a concert at St James’ church, Church Road, Haydock, starting at 7.30pm. Tickets £6 each from the vicar, the parish centre on Thursdays 5-9pm, or pay on the door. Refreshments available. The concert is in aid of St James’ beavers, cubs and scouts.

Tuesday October 13

The next meeting of the St Helens Heart Support Group. Guest speaker Jan Naybour (Cardiac Rehab Lead, Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital) will talk about “The key to a healthy heart”. Newton Social Club is hosting a 80s Night with Nick Morley. Starting at 7.30pm, with fancy dress optional, and tickets, priced £4 are available from the club.

Thursday October 29

The last meeting of the year for the Newton-le-Willows Gardeners Association, will be held at Newton Sports and Cricket Club on Crow Lane East as usual. The speaker will be Phil Dunnett of Ribblesdale Nursery in Woodplumpton, who will be demonstrating How To Prune, particularly Fruit.
