A COMEDY penned by Whiston-born playwright Willy Russell is set to be brought to life by the award-winning Matchbox Theatre Company.
Russell, who is probably best known for Blood Brothers and Educating Rita, will see his wickedly funny play One For The Road hit the stage at Rainhill Village Hall on June 23 and 24.
Set in the late 1970s, it tells the tale of what happens when two fully mortgaged, furnished, fitted and, ultimately, bored couples meet up for a dinner party.
As the characters begin to mourn the recklessness of their youth, Dennis is the first to crack when he longs for Bob Dylan but gets John Denver instead!
Both performances of the play, which tells of a man on a mission to break out, are due to start at 8pm.
Tickets, priced £6 each, will be available on the door or can be bought in advance by calling Ann on 0151 426 5299 or Ian on 07912 054594.
