New Co-op store opens its doors in St Helens
A new Co-op food store has opened its doors in St Helens following a £350,000 investment creating 12 local jobs.
The former SPAR has been extended and transformed into a 3,000 sq ft Co-op store, located on Prescot Road opposite Carmel College and is nowt open between 6.30am-10pm daily.
The local community will see an extensive range of fresh, healthy produce, ready meals and pizzas along with an in-store bakery, award-winning wines, fairtrade, free-from, and vegan options and a wide range of every-day grocery essentials.
Shoppers can enjoy a comprehensive food-to-go offer with a wide range of fresh chilled sandwiches, hot food including Costa Coffee express and pastries. There is a large car park, plus Amazon lockers and Paypoint to ensure the store has additional services to create an easy and convenient shopping experience for customers.
A funding boost is provided locally through Co-op’s Membership scheme. Membership unlocks additional value through in-store offers, and sees Members rewarded with 2p in every pound they spend on Co-op branded products which is added to their own personal Membership account balance. The Co-op also donates the same amount to local causes.
The store is also supporting Teardrops – which works to support the homeless and vulnerable in St Helens communities.
The new store is operated as a franchise, store owner, Stephen Richards, said: “We have had a great response - we’re really excited to launch Co-op’s first franchise store in the town.
"The store has a fantastic look and, we are looking forward to welcoming the community into their new store. We have worked to develop the range, choice, products and services locally that will create a really compelling offer in the community.”
Contactless card payment limits are increased to £45, making it easier, quicker and safer to shop.
