Am-dram lift off

A RAINHILL amateur dramatic society is preparing to stage the musical Return to the Forbidden Planet.

Rainhill Musical Theatre Company, which was formed in 1951, welcomes newcomer Bryan Darghi Lynch as the show producer.

He brings with him a wealth of theatrical experience having performed with a host of other am-dram societies.

The show, which is based on Shakespeare’s The Tempest, will be performed on June 5, 6 and 7 at Rainhill Village Hall, Weaver Avenue, Rainhill.

Originally known as Rainhill Conservative Amateur Operatic Society, the group is affiliated to the National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA) who regularly review productions, and was nominated for the Best Panto in 2002 for Dick Whittington and Best Concert/Revue Award in 2007 for The End of the Pier Show.

Always looking for new members, both on stage and off, the group rehearse on a Monday and Wednesday at Rainhill Village Hall.

Their youth group is currently rehearsing Charlie and the Chocolate Factory which goes to the stage April 18, 19 and 20.
