Captured on camera at Parr Central School in 1949 were the cast of the Gilbert and Sullivan comic opera Iolanthe.

Among those in the 30-strong troupe was ex-Saints winger Frank Carlton - who played Earl Mountararat.

Carlton went on to play more than 150 times for Saints, scoring 129 tries.

Tony Hewitt was the producer of the well-attended show and Ernest Entwistle the stage manager.
