Paul Sculthorpe is to leave Saints at the end of the season.
The club have confirmed the 30-year-old will NOT be offered a new contract when his existing deal expires at the end of the season.

His injury record and salary cap constraints are believed to be behind the decision to dump one of the most decorated players of the Super League era.

Two-time Man of Steel winner Sculthorpe is expected to join Super League new boys Salford City Reds, joining Shaun McRae, the Aussie coach who brought him to Knowsley Road as a teenager.

Sculthorpe join St Helens in 1997 from Warrington Wolves and went on to become one of the club's greatest ever players.

He was appointed club captain in 2004 and led the club to victory at two Challenge Cup finals.

But his last two years with the club have been plighted by injury.

He has played only a handful of games this year and was told by club officials in June he would not be offered a new contract but has been told he will continue as club captain unitl his exit.
