Saints are in talks with Catalans Dragons coach Mick Potter about succeeding fellow Australian Daniel Anderson.

The Knowsley Road club are now favourites to win a tug of war for the 44-year-old Potter, who has been offered a new two-year contract by the Perpignan club after guiding them to third place in the engage Super League.

Potter, who also impressed Saints by leading the Dragons to the Challenge Cup final at Wembley last August, has been their top target since Anderson announced that he would be returning to Australia more than 12 months ago.

Reports suggest Potter has opted for Knowsley Road, with the club expected to confirm his appointment in the next 48 hours, but he insisted that no decision has yet been made.
