It Saints gonna be easy, Dwain
Disgraced athlete Dwain Chambers could be in line to face Saints in Sunday's engage Super League clash at the Jungle.
Castleford Tigers coach Terry Matterson is thin on the ground as regards fully fit players and has not ruled out the possibility of the self-confessed drugs cheat, who is on a month's trial at Wheldon Road, playing some part in the game.
But Saints' boss Daniel Anderson yesterday declared himself 'unfazed' by the prospect of Chambers, who hasn't played Rugby League in his life, making his debut for the struggling Tykes.
He said:"I don't want to be too hard on a possible new recruit to our sport but I think it may be difficult to reach Super League standard within the space of a few days.''
Anderson added: "If he plays, so be it, but I would be surprised. However, whatever grade he turns out for initially, he is certain to attract some extra people to the game."
Saints, who have lost successive away fixtures, will be hoping for an upturn in form on their travels but will taking nothing for granted against a struggling Castleford team which toppled leaders Leeds Rhinos 38-20 at the Jungle in early March.
"They are a dangerous proposition at home and their fans will be buoyant following the publicity which has surrounded the club this week"
Lee Gilmour is Saints' only doubt. He suffered an ankle knock during the game against Leeds and was due to have a scan yesterday (Tuesday) to assess the injury.
Good news on the injury front, however, is that both Keiron Cunningham and Paul Sculthorpe are on the brink of a return to first team duty.
Anderson said he would check both players fitness before the home game against Harlequins on Friday, April 11, but felt a more realistic date for their return was the following weekend's fourth round Challenge Cup tie against London Skolars at Knowsley Road.
