Flannery has eye on the Tigers

Prop Chris Flannery, who has missed the last three games after suffering medial ligament damage, is on the verge of making his first team comeback.
The Aussie second rower is unlikely to figure in Saturday's engage Super League X111 fixture against Harlequins at the Stoop but coach Daniel Anderson said yesterday he was confident his fellow countryman would be fit to face Castleford Tigers at the GPW Recruitment Stadium the following Friday.

"He has less than a 50-50 chance of making the squad this weekend but he will definitely play against Castleford, " said Anderson.

His return will be a timely boost at a stage in the season when the club is without three other forwards, Jason Cayless, Nick Fozzard and Mike Bennett.

At the same time, the current form of Paul Sculthorpe is an added bonus. The loose forward - ravaged by injuries over the last few years - has started the last four Super League games and come through unscathed.

"I don't think Paul has played five matches on the trot since I have been here but his return to full fitness, plus his vast experience and know-how, has been the biggest plus point for me, " said Anderson.

Cayless, too, isn't too far away from returning and this will, hopefully, give the head coach a chance to rotate his players at the business end of the campaign.

But of immediate concern is the trip to the Stoop where Quins – a team which can blow hot or cold – present unpredictable opposition.

The Londoners defeated table-toppers Leeds 28-24 in their last home encounter and Anderson, in his own words, will be preparing for 'the real Quins turning up.'

His only injury doubt is scrum half Sean Long but he is expected to recover from a thigh strain picked up against Huddersfield on Sunday.

There is also a question mark over Lee Gilmour but his appearance in the starting line-up will depends on whether his partner, who is pregnant, gives birth to their child. If the baby arrives before the weekend, Gilmour will travel with the squad but if not he will stay behind.
