Former Saints assistant coach Jon Sharp has signed a 12-month extension to his contract at Huddersfield Giants, which will keep him at the Galpharm Stadium at least until the end of the 2009 season.
The former Great Britain assistant coach was appointed as the successor to Tony Smith in August 2003 and is second only to Warrington's Paul Cullen as the longest-serving coach at a Super League club.
Sharp, who turned 41 earlier this month, guide
d Huddersfield to a first Challenge Cup final for 40 years in 2006 and last season took them to the Super League play-offs for the first time.
"I'm very happy here and can see the real progress we have made,'' said Sharp.
"It's been a fantastic journey since the day I first took over.
''I believe we have now started to earn the respect of the whole rugby league world. It has been hard work, with a lot of effort, endeavour and hours put in to get the club to where it is now.
''As well as the quality of the current squad, I'm really pleased with the way the young kids are coming through, with the debuts of Leroy Cudjoe and Michael Lawrence proving that the future looks very bright.''
A former player with Featherstone and Hull, Sharp was head coach at Batley for a brief spell in 2000 and was assistant to Ian Millward at St Helens from 2002-03.
