Police recovered a firearm during a raid at a property in Moss Green Way, Derbyshire Hill, on Tuesday (November 25).
A 15-year-old boy was later charged with possession of a firearm and will be appearing at St Helens Magistrates court on Wednesday, November 26).

Mike Shaw, of the anti-gun Matrix team, said: "This recovery has ensured another weapon has been taken out of circulation and out of the hands of the criminal fraternity.

"It will now be subject to a thorough forensic examination to establish if it is linked to any ongoing investigations into gun-related crime.

"I would urge the public to continue to support us by providing information on anyone who uses or possesses guns in Merseyside. Be assured, we will continue to take the strongest action against offenders."

Anyone with information about gun crime can contact police on 0800 458 1211 or Crimestoppers, in confidence, on 0800 555 111.
