A 17-year-old St Helens lad killed in a motorbike accident has inspired a new educational DVD.
Damen Burrows was fatally injured in an accident on Leslie Road in 2006.

Following his death, his mother Paula was inspired to start a project to educate other young road users about the dangers faced by both motorists and bikers.

Funded by the Merseyside Road Safety Partnership, the DVD includes a dramatisation of the popular teenager's fatal accident as well as interviews with witnesses and survivors of other collisions.

The DVD will be officially unveiled in a launch event at Cowley Language College today (Wednesday). It will then be distributed to schools across the borough and will form part of road safety officers ongoing work across Merseyside.

Dave Foulkes, partnership manager for MRSP, believes the DVD will help save lives. He said: "Merseyside Road Safety Partnership constantly works with young road users to educate them about road safety, and ultimately reduce their risk of collision or injury.

"This educational pack is the latest method we have employed and is a great way to reach the age group. The roll out will be targeted to Key Stage four pupils and the DVD will be used by schools in PSHEE and citizenship classes.

"By using real life case studies and interviewees, we are driving home the message in a way that young people can relate to, with the aim of challenging their attitudes and behaviours to ensure that all young road users in Merseyside remain safe.".
