St Helens actress scoops top soap award

A TALENTED St Helens girl has scooped the best actress award at the British Soap Awards.
Hollyoaks star, Emma Rigby, won the sought after accolade for playing Hannah Ashworth in a dramatic storyline that showed her battling anorexia.
The former De La Salle pupil has received critical acclaim for her skilful and sometimes haunting portrayal of a young teenager fighting the killer disease.
She picked up the gong at the glitzy award ceremony in the BBC Television Centre, London on Wednesday night (May 7).
The Chester based drama also picked up awards for best actor (Chris Fountain who plays Justin Barton) as well as sexiest female (Roxanne McKee who plays Louise Kennedy) and most spectacular scene of the year award.
Eastenders and Coronation Street picked up nine trophies between them with Liz Dawn – Corrie's veteran star Vera Duckworth – receiving a lifetime achievement award.
