A man assaulted in an alleged homophobic hate attack has died.
Michael Causer died on Saturday (August 2) after a week in intensive care.

The 18-year-old, from Whiston, was assaulted as he walked along Tarbock Road in Huyton on Friday, July 25. He suffered serious head injuries and was rushed to hospital where he remained in a critical condition.

Despite undergoing brain surgery he passed away eight days later.
Two men – James O' Connor and Gavin Alker – have been charged with grievous bodily harm.

A third man, Christopher Douglas, 19, of Page Moss Avenue, Huyton appeared before Knowsley Magistrates charged with witness intimidation.

A 19-year-old from Prescot was also arrested in connection to the attack and has been released on police bail.

Friends and family members have created a web page on Facebook – a popular social networking site - which is dedicated to the teenager.

Derrick Keith Ryan, of Washington DC, wrote: "We are all family. Together we will end such injustices. Michael was a great person."

A family member, Christina McCann, described him as the 'best cousin-in-law anyone could ask for'.

She wrote: "Michael, I can't find the right words to tell you how devastated I am that you are gone, I was with you right till the end and it was the hardest thing to see.

"Enjoy it in heaven where you have become an angel, and keep on partying and being the life an soul of the party. I will never forget you and will always remember the times we shared together."
