More then a 100 people had to be evacuated from a St Helens cinema after a vat of popcorn caught fire.
The blaze was caused by the machine overheating on Saturday afternoon (August 9).

Staff and customers were forced to stand outside Cineworld on Chalon Way in torrential downpour for 45 minutes.

Firefighters from St Helens attended the incident and extinguished the blaze before checking to make sure the area was safe.

No one was injured but the machine was damaged.

After precautionary checks were carried out the cinema re-opened and the films continued.
