Nathan Brown is happy to play a waiting game with crocked half-back Luke Walsh - despite admitting he’s desperate for him to return.
The league leaders travel to The Hive on Saturday in a top against bottom clash which many will write off as a foregone conclusion.
But Brown thinks the Broncos’ plight, a season in the Championship next term as their relegation was confirmed by a thumping at Warrington last week, is a reason to be wary of them.
“In some ways they may chance their arm a little bit more won’t they? They might think they’ve even less to lose,” he said.
“It’s a tricky little field down there and I’m sure they enjoy playing on that more than they do the big open fields.”
Saints could also be travelling to the capital looking to wrestle top spot back from Leeds, should the Rhinos beat Castleford tomorrow night (Thursday) and their focus on earning top spot in the regular season is a reason Brown would have preferred Walsh to feature this week.
“He will probably miss another week I’d say,” confirmed Brown when asked about the 27-year-old who hasn’t featured since sustaining a back injury in the 16-12 win at Wigan in June.
“He could play with needles - we’d like him to play to be honest with you because he missed a bit earlier in the year, he was starting to play well and then missed a bit again.
“Regardless of who the team is we face we’d like him to play and unfortunately he’s not fit.”
