Saints star Luke Walsh is set to be out for up to six weeks after suffering a calf tear in his side’s 40-22 win over Catalans Dragons.
Head coach Nathan Brown revealed that Jordan Turner is also set to spend “three or four weeks” on the sidelines.
He said: “It hasn’t been kind. Luke Walsh is out for four to six weeks and Jordan Turner’s out for three or four. Big Alex Walmsley’s probably going to miss a week too. He’s got a slight problem with his hip. It’s more of a knock than anything. Sia Soliola and Mark Percival may miss this week as well.
“Losing Walshy for that length of time is not ideal but that’s the nature of the sport unfortunately. He got a knock on his calf and it led to a bit of a muscle tear.
“He was obviously having quite a good influence on the team but we played with Jon Wilkin in the halves last year and only got beaten by Leeds by a point. We think we’ve got a better balanced squad this year and with the forwards we’ve got I’m sure they can help Wilko do a good job.”
